Best of What's Around

This weeks Topic: Best Sandwich in the city

Greg: I'll tell ya right now - I like a good sando and I've broken this down into two categories - Take out / Eat in

Submarine Center: Commuter friendly as it's steps from the West Portal MUNI - 3 sizes, tons of choices all made to order. The Italian Sausage is my favorite.
Yellow Submarine: Boston style sandos - call in your order and save 15 minutes as parking is tough.

Sit Down, Grab a Fork and Knife Best Sando:

Mario's Bohemian Cigar Store Cafe: Truth be told - I managed, cooked and waited tables at Mario's so it's safe to say I've tested every possible sandwich on the menu. Go with the meatball and a Peroni and enjoy the view.
Hard Knox Cafe: Shrimp Po Boy, Fries, a Budweiser and the Giants on a giant High Def flat screen - nuf said.

Garrett:

Lefty O'Douls: Roast beef the way its supposed to be--fresh cut with flavorful dip. The restaurant has a fun atmosphere. It's a sF classic and is hofbrau style with all the staples: turkey, pastrami, roast beef, coleslaw and mashed potatoes.
Canyon Market: Daily specials are fantastic, fresh and creative.
The Cheese Steak Shop: My favorite steak sando in the city--sweet and hot peppers!
Progressive Grounds (lavash): I'm a fan of the salmon lavash. It's fresh, it's hot, it's unique and it's delicious.
